Red Cliffs

What better way to spend time then out enjoying the beauty of the Red Cliffs.   Jeff and Kathryn joined us and we were grateful for that.   The kids loved being out in the sun, water, and sand.   The adults needed it as much as the kids.  There is something about the red and green that just makes everything feel better.    It creates the same excitement and joy that the red and green of Christmas brings.   It felt good to be out of the house and doing something physical for a change.
My kids loved being in they're swimming suits especially Kaci.  She needs to live in St George.   She hates the cold and snow.  Although she wouldn't get in the water either.   After we crossed the rock so that everyone could play in the water Kaci was scared and needed Uncle Lance for a few minuets.  It was really sweet.

Kayla, Dan, Hailey, Brett, & Jeff Uncle all jumped of the cliffs.   Kayla by far had the best form.

This is the rock that everyone walks on to get to the water.   I have to be honest it made me a lot nervous to watch all the dads carrying the little ones on their shoulders across.    I am just sooooooo grateful they were there to do it and that I didn't have to.   I am not that confident.    There is a rope  and holes for your feet and hands which makes it a lot easier.   I was amazed at all of the people pregnant ladies, young kids, and older people having no fear and going across.
Mother Nature makes the best slides.
On our way home we got a flat tire.  Dan and I were visiting and I think Dan was on the cell phone when we heard a noise and Zeak and Kayla said we have been trying to tell you that we heard the tire pop a while ago.  The funny part was that it right in front of a tire store the only problem with this was it was at 7:20PM  so we put the donut on and then had to wait until Sunday to get it fixed.   Sunday morning Dan tried getting it fixed but nothing opened until noon so we got ready and went to church with Shannon and Lance and then we went to the Draper temple dedication with them.  Zeak and Kayla were old enough to attend and hopefully they understood and listened.    What a great weekend!  We are grateful for family who is so willing to let us come and get a little R&R in their company.  It was fun to be with everyone.

Life is Good!

Our new family motto.  "Life is Good"   We decided everyone needed a little get away so we loaded up and went to St. George for the weekend.     Dan found this store and he said this is our new motto.   He even went in the store and bought a shirt with his new motto on it.    We both feel like life is good.  We are very blessed!  I tribute a lot of this to Dan and his attitude he has an optimistic attitude all of the time.     He is an achiever not a quitter and when someone says he can't he usually proves them wrong.    He has an amazing willpower and sense of TRY!    It is amazing to me that throughout his life's trials he has maintaned his standards and can keep a calm cool, collect, attitude most of the time.  When his human side kicks in he is very quick to admit he was wrong and apologize.    I have a lot to learn from him.   I am glad he is willing to drag me along through eternity because I surely wouldn't make it on my own.
Grandma Nelson does a Southern Utah Pizza party for the kids down there.   We were lucky enough to attend  both parties this year.    She is a sweetheart.  When we asked her if she was sure she wanted to buy us pizza again she said sure.  I can't go on trips and cruises anymore so I can't think of a better way to spend my money then sharing it with all of you.   She is  one of the most generous people I know.  She loves her family and is always helping us out.   Dan and I hope to follow her great example.
Waiting patiently for our table.

Celebration

We have a lot of Birthdays in  Feb  & March on my side of the Family we have  my sister Stef on the 3rd Zeak on the 26th of  Feb  Cody on the 3rd of March Brendathe 5th and me on the 16th on Dan's side we have  Kaleb & Carter on the 11th , Zeak and Brinley on the 26th of February  Kathryn on the 12th, Madison the 14th, and me on the 16th of March.  From the picture we could add one more before the month is over unless he is as independent as his mom and wants to be the one and only April Birthday in the family.  So yesterday was a day of celebrating we had dinner with my family.  We had everyone but Cody and the Idaho crew.  It was fun.
The best part of the day was Kaci decided to give McKenzie, me, and grandma foot messages as well.    My mom was feeling bad for Brenda.

Then later that night we went to celebrate with the Woodlands.  It was short but so fun to see everyone.    Kaleb and Carter had their first rode trip to meet the cousins.  They are so tiny but, so adorable.    Kathryn and Jeff came up without the kids (we forgive them this time) and so we had cake and ice cream.   We celebrated Birthdays.    It was such a fun day.   We had one more party with the Sperry's that we didn't make it to but we just ran out of hours in the day.

Kaci loved the babies.  Her favorite is Carter he is the more quiet and content of the two but both babies are really good at this point.  She was so tender and quiet with them.  She would whisper to them and touch them so soft.  It was really sweet.

Painting

Kaci and I headed to Fillmore Friday afternoon to help my parents paint their house.  Becky and Trevor have a sprayer which was a huge blessing.   So Friday night I watched Kaci and Rylon and they sprayed primer on everything.  Saturday morning game was on.  We didn't have all of the paint so Brenda had to come down with the rest of the paint which worked out better anyway because that gave us another hand to watch the kids while the rest of us painted.   My mom and dad and I painted their bedroom and the bathroom and the green room.  Becky and my dad taped everything thing off as it dried because we can't just have a 1 tone paint job we went with 3 in most rooms.   Then Trevor sprayed the addition and main living room.  By 8:00 pm Brenda and I were on our way home and I was tired.   That is a lot of painting for one day when you are not use to doing it.  My mom will have to finish the trim and touch up but the worst of it is done.   My picture is a little foggy Trevor just finished spraying and the camera kept getting the fine overspray in the picture.

Best Painter Ever.  She was truly a great help and loves to paint and create.  I think she is going to be an artist of some kind.

Kaci went and helped Grandma pick paint for her house and she was so excited to paint Uncle Cody's room.  She picked a bright pink and teal blue for his room but Grandma talked her into toning it down quite a bit.  I was a little sad because it is really pale blue.  Kaci says it is white.  The rest of the house is very colorful compared to his room but it is ok.  He wont be there much anyway.    My mom is finally excited about her house and her addition.  It is amazing how just being able to paint and add some color helped her feel OK with things.  I know that colors have a lot of power  and influence on our lives so it was good to see them helping and having a good influence on my mom.   Color has always been a huge thing in my life I love COLOR.  I can't wait to paint my house.   But, I think I will wait a few days and let my body recover first.  I'm not as young as I once was.

HATE

At our house we have heard the word Hate a lot.   Kaci woke up the other morning and told me she hated her hair, her cloths, her toys, and her friends.   I was concerned! I had her say things like this lately but never first thing in the morning.  I did what any good mother would do lol and I got a garbage bag and started throwing everything away. Of course you know what happened next she started to cry and say that she was sorry.  She liked some of her toys and she liked her friends but not her cloths and her hair.
This has been going on and now it is starting to make me wonder where I have failed.  If she is like this at three what will she be like at 16???   The other day she told me she hated me and her cloths and her hair.  When Dan tried talking to her she said she thought that my hair and clothes were ugly.  So now I am really getting concerned.   Is this just a stage or is she  just spoiled rotten.   Probably, the ladder of the two.  Today at Wal Mart she got mad at something and blurted out I hate you I want a new mom.  I nice lady said, "oh sweetie you don't hate your mom that is a naughty thing to say."  Embarrassed  I said, "thanks" and went on my way.   When I got in the car I said Kaci if you really hate your mom I can look for you a new mom.   Silence... Then she said ok I want Ange.   Sooooo Ange if you are game she is all yours.   She does usually apologize sooner not later.   Tonight before bed after driving home in the most horrible snow storm ever we had prayer and everyone went to bed.  Kaci said mom I'm sorry so we talked about what hate means,  "It means fighting"  So in her mind Hate means fighting.  I told her their was a new rule at our house we couldn't say Hate anymore because it makes mom feel bad.  If we say it to other people it makes them feel bad too.   She said that I could put her in time out if she says it again.   No spanking, no washing her mouth out with soap just timeout.  Then she gave me a hug and said she was sorry and that she loves me.    I really hope this is just a stage and I haven't ruined her already.

So before tomorrow and her putting me in time out for saying Hate.

I Hate driving in Snow storms
I Hate SUVS and Semis who think they can drive in snow storms
I Hate What the snow does to my car.
I Hate not being able to see my mirrors
I Hate not being able to see through my windshield
and I Hate slush !!!!
Dan and I had to meet with a customer in Fillmore tonight and help my parents tape their house so we can texture and paint.   As I left Mona at 3:45 it was looking like snow.  At 5:35 it was a blizzard in Fillmore and at 7:44 I was wishing I was home in front of the fireplace.  I do much better with Dan behind the wheel than me.  Since, we had to vehicles he was behind me because he wanted to be able to help if there was a problem.    It was horrible and to be honest I was scared to death.   If I could have just worried about me and the snow I would have been fine but it was all of the rude Semis that fly past you like it is July and 100 degrees outside.  Then the SUVS that think their car has wings instead of wheels.   But Jake said a prayer and sang primary songs all the way home so we made it.
This was my mirror that had so much snow and ice I couldn't see out of it.  My windshield looked like that a good portion of the way home as well.   I will need new windshield wipers after this.  I can deal with this much easier than needing a new car.  Definitely grateful for being blessed tonight and that I am home warm, safe, and blogging!:)

Turkey Banquet

Saturday Night March 7th was the Turkey Banquet in Nephi. Dan has been involved in it for several years now. He has been the MC for two years and next weekend he will MC the Provo banquet for the second year in a row. He loves doing it. His mission companion and good friend Chris Snell and his family come down every year. Snell does Vortex Optics (Binoculars, Spotting Scope, Ect. So if you need anything call us we can hook you up. They are awesome and Chris is great to work with not to mention he is an avid hunter like Dan, so he sells a great product.  http://www.vipoptics.com/
Zeak was the first winner of the night He got a t-shirt that fits Jake and a soccer ball which Jake will use more than Zeak.   Jake got a yo-yo and was very sad.  Then the adult drawings came and Jake won a ton, Video, hat, night light, and a car cleaning kit.  He is cleaning my car first, Dan's truck, and then Grandma Marylou.  Can't wait.  The soccer ball was a great snag since it kept the little ones entertained most of the night.  We (Becky Snell)  just had to stand guard of the prints behind them.

Even though I can think of a 100 other things I would rather do it wasn't a bad night all in all. Dan did do a good job at keeping things going and making sure it was a fun night had by all.  He does have a love for people and is always wanting everyone to have as much fun as he has.

Our new Farm animal

Thursday Dan brought home a new goat for the boys to tie.   He is a cute little thing.   Where he lacks in size he doesn't lack in attitude.  He will for sure make my boys tough.  He  already jumps out of the horse trailer.  Climbs the haystack to the shelf in our hay barn and chases the dogs.   I'm not sure about this farm life!!!  We are never with our adventure thats for sure.
