Why we need our Dad

Even though I threaten that I could live with out Dan all I have to do is send him to Youth Conference or Scout Camp to realize there are just some things I need him here for.    It amazes me that nothing seems to go wrong when they are here but hours after they leave wow!     So two weeks ago Dan left on Thursday morning for Youth Conference.   He hadn't been gone more than 6 hours when everything started to fall apart. The boys had some friends over and they  were roping and tying goats and being boys. Pretty soon I hear a huge commotion outside and went to see that my husbands big rope horse was out tromping on my grass and through my garden. This was an even bigger problem since it had just rained making the ground really soft now I have big hoof prints in my grass and through my garden. I think most of the vegetables survived however, the carrots did not.  After getting the horse put away and things taken care of I went in to fix dinner. The boys were feeding animals and playing. I fed the kids and then went out to check on the animals and make sure everything was OK only to find that the steers and the appaloosa pony had changed corrals and the pony was cleaning up the grain from the show steer.   For those of you who don't know, there are ingredients in the show steer grain that can be very

harmful to horses. So I panic start yelling for help and moving animals. The other problem that can be very deadly for the show steers is they were cleaning up the horses hay. Too much leafy alfa will make steers bloat.

The next morning Zeak went out to ride and found sores on his horse I thought they looked like pigeon fever wich is a highly contagious disease that causes infection and is hard to treat.  It is spread by flies.  Luckily after  making some phone calls we decided that it was cinch sores.   This was much easier to treat and take care of.   I did end up cleaning all of the cinches and putting up flies traps and cleaning up most of the mess.  Unfortunately we concluded with the next night before going to bed, I made the rounds and found all of the animals properly fed and safely tucked in. The kids were bathing and getting ready for bed when we discovered the basement had flooded. With all of the rains from the week the floor drains in my basement back filled leaving me a mess.   So as you can see nothing to tramadic but why doesn't this stuff ever happen when he is home?

Hoof prints in my Grass?   Is this an overkill on airiation?

It's not just pigs that love mud.   The steers keep dumping their water trough (50 Gallons of water.)  What a mess!!!
Hoof prints in my garden luckily my carrots are the only thing that got really hit hard.
My basement flooded.
Getting ready for Scout camp.

If you are not sick of me wining yet this is what happened yesterday.  Dan left at 6:00 am for scout camp.   Oh ya and it only took 4 hours to find that Jake prize rooster (pretty boy) had got in the dogs pen.   I am sparing you pictures it was ugly(for the reccord I didn't take any.)  Luckily Jake was in Tooele with my mom and didn't have to see it took Zeak and I 2 hours to clean  up the mess and I made Zeak man up and finish the job the dogs had started.    Then with in a couple hours of that I look out to see the show steers sneaking out.   Lucky for my garden I ran for the gates and trapped them in.   They are getting fisty and they know they are bigger than me so it took a little more to get them back in but we managed.   While my mom was in Tooele someone broke into her car and the only thing they stole was Jakes cowboy hat.   He had a rough day poor kid.  So far we are keeping things low key today and hoping that nothing else happens in the next 24 hours.  I just have to say that Dan is not going to leave me any more I think I am up for a vacation and he can stay home with the farm.  Just a side note the steers never got out once in the days between Youth Conference and Scout Camp.

Not the weekend we had planned.

So after a long week I guess my body decided I needed some rest and so it decided to get sick.    The swine flu has made its way into Juab County so Dan insisted I go into the Doc.  Well back in to see Dr Jones just for him to tell me it is just a virus.  I am grateful it is just a virus just wish I would have stayed home instead of putting my self through that awful test.   They did the strep test wich most of you have had I'm sure.   If you have never been tested for Infuenza this might make you think twice about getting tested.  They stick a cotton swap up your nose (don't laugh I now have some idea what Kaci felt like)   then they twist it and let it sit for ONE minuet.   Then twist it again and sit before pulling it out.   Gross I know and I am sorry to share but if I can spare the rest of you that awful ordeal good.   On the same hand if you are really sick they can help you just so happens I wasn't sick enough.   Dan is really frustrated that I didn't go with him to Panquitch but who wants to go to the arena and be sick all weekend.   Kaci stayed home with me so her and I have just been hanging out.

I just posted on my vinylcreations blog.

Hope all of you have had a great weekend I will post the Rodeo Results as soon as I get them.

More Pictures of Kaci

The night  she put the rock up her nose.  We had to stay in the ER a while and Dan ran home to do Scouts.

The next morning we took her to breakfast because she was starving but she didn't really have an appetite yet.

Not again Kaci...

Sorry for everyone who looked and the pictures before the explanation I didn't realize it had posted with out the txt.   The last picture is kind of frightning she is just sedated and worn out from fighting us so hard.  I will remove it because it really is scary if you want to see it you will have to come over.    She stuck a rock up her nose and we couldn't get it out.  Dr Jones tried a couple of times in the clinic and then decided we needed to go to the ER and sedate her she fought almost as hard sedated as she did without.   She is a strong willed little girl.  They even said when she does something she does it well doesn't she.   Dr Rosebeck tried to get it out and then they decided to send us to and ENT wednsday morning.  So early in the morning we headed up there and after a scope in Dr Beus' office we concluded the rock was gone and everything was fine.   I think Dan was as tramatized as she was.   It was all he could do to hold her still while they did the scope.   Come to find out that this is just pay back for Dan because he had to go to the Dr several times for sticking beans up his nose.   Then he would even let his sisters stick things up his nose????    She had a 4 hour nap yesterday and seems to be fine today.   When I went into the ER Tami Scott said my H$LL Lisa your back with that little girl.   So If she makes it to High School Graduation there will be a party at the Woodland house.   Shannon remind me that she is so cute and innocent and I prayed for a little girl lol.    I really do love her she just is so different from the boys.  I am more confident in raising them then her maybe thats why she is here to teach and humble me.    Anyway everything is OK and we are all headed to Panguitch for the weekend to watch Zeak rodeo.   Will post his results in a few days.  Heres to a Great RELAXING WEEKEND!

It's Official

Dusty finally popped the question.  We all have know for a really really really long time that they would get married.    Although I have to admit that I had given up on him.  Lucky for him McKenzie didn't or according to Dusty lucky for her he was patient.    The big day is August 8th.   We are really excited for them and McKenzie is now officially the favorite Aunt.

Fun with our COUSINS

what more can I say we love our cousins and had a great time with all of them that is what life is all about hanging with family and friends making memories.  Thanks for coming we can't wait to have everyone again.  My house is not clean and life looks pretty crazy but we had a fun week.  I enjoy having a home that is open to family and friends.   I hope they all feel welcome and enjoy being here.   Someday I will have a clean organized house.  For now it is just a home that is open to everyone.
I even got a little work out of the boys I told them as soon as they had 2 rows weeded I would get out the slip and slide and balloons.  My they worked fast.  I will have to hire them more often I think Ice Cream cones were part of the bribe.
Thursday night I had Wes, Ariel, Carson, Brinley, and my 3.
The stand off.     Aunt Shannon sent a bucket full of water balloons and bubbles the kids had a blast.   They had so much fun Ariel decided to stay and play with us.
Thursday night  I cooked my dad dinner for his birthday then Grandma treated everyone to icecream thanks dad. Hope you had a Happy Birthday.  ( Jake wasn't sharing his icecream)
Jake by far had the biggest fan club Thursday and Saturday night at the play.   Thanks everyone for your support.
One night Dan and I were downloading some songs off of Itunes.  The boys had fun dancing and laughing.   I down loaded the CHa Cha slide for the boys.  We had so much fun we ran Dan off.
Brinley and Carson  spent a few days with us.  They were a lot of fun.  They got to watch Jake in Jack & The Beanstalk twice and they got icecream thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Barnhurst.  When my mom came back up Saturday Brinley said I like that Grandma.
This is Kaci and Ashlyn making soup   any guesses what is in the soup????
Ashlyn was the first cousin to come and spend some time with us.   She loved the baby chicks I am surprised they survived her and Kaci.  I left the girls alone with them to long and came back to find a brand new bag of chicken food 1/4 of the way gone.  The poor chicks were swimming in food.   I was to upset to take a picture and now wish that I would have.    Ashlyn keeps you on your toes.  She is so funny.  On the way into Nephi she told Uncle Dan to slow down she couldn't see everything.   We laughed then Dan slowed down so she could see the fields of Hay and cows on the way to Grandma Woodlands.   Then when her and I were headed to get the boys from branding she told me that she had a new coat for Christmas and one day  she got the scissors out and cut the arms off.  I quizzed her about that and she said, "Ashlyn I don't know what you were thinking. "  I said,  "what were you thinking?"  she said,  "I don't know what I was thinking."   The first thing Suzanne checked when they got home were Ashlyn's coats.   You will all be happy to know she didn't cut them.  By her story I was convinced she had cut her new coats.   She was so fun to have at "The Cowboy House"  (thats what she calls us "The Cowboy Family," that lives at "The Cowboy House")   We can't wait for her to come and visit us again.

Jack & the Bean Stalk

Genika, Jake, Keanna.  No matter what we are doing or where we are out you can always find Jake in a group of girls, the rodeo, the baseball field, soccer practice, school, church it doesn't matter.  He took lessons from his older brother  and they didn't learn that from their dad he is afraid of girls.

This is something I never thought I would do.   He was not happy about it and it took his dad some convincing that is has to be.     The musical theatrical world is something I know absolutely nothing about.   There are   a lot of strange ways and methods to doing things but then I had to sit back and think if I were to take these people to a rodeo they would feel the same about us.    I really was impressed with Jake like I said I know nothing about acting and performing but I think for a 6 year old he did awesome.   You could hear him and understand him.  He loved singing and I couldn't tell if he was nervous I think he just had fun.   My grandpa said that he can see Jake being the barrelman and being the star of the rodeo.   Guess we will see.
