Zeak 8th grade
Zeak is growing up so fast. Some days I am amazed at his maturity and responsibility. He asked me to wake him up at 6:00 am so he could get all of his animals fed before school. I still know he is maturing when him and his dad battle it out about something dumb he has done. He Loves his horses. He Lives to Team Rope, calf rope, brand, ranch anything on a horse. English is a struggle for him and thanks to Mr. Sameulson Math is easy for him. The other day we were having scripture study and we were discussing the scripture. Dan said, "Zeak I am so impressed you are learning something." Zeak, "Dad even though it doesn't look like I am listening I really am." We all laughed and then I said, "Zeak your goal for this year is to make it look like you are listening then we will have all As and Hs." Here is to a great year of learning and growing.
Jake 4th Grade
Jake is our funny man he keeps us laughing. He loves his animals he is always on ksl looking for more and scheming ways to make the farm bigger and better. He enjoys leather crafts a talent he developed this year in 4-h. Music is his life. He is often found singing, doing his chores, in the shower, and in the truck. He can memorize words like his dad. If he hears a song once it is in that brain for life. Of the three kids I would say Jake loves school the most. He never complains about having to go. He is always excited to learn new things. He is the easiest one to get homework done and handed in. Jake hates spelling with a passion. He is excited about his new teacher Mrs. Penrod. It is going to be a great year.
Kaci Fae 1st Grade
Yep our baby is in first grade. She has changed the most over the last year. She has gone from only wearing dresses and fancy cloths to cowgirl cloths and boots. She has gone from crying when we have to go to the arena to crying because the boys have to ride her horse. She has gone from being my little princess to daddy's little girl. She still loves to ice skate. She can often be heard singing a song that she is making up as she sings. I wish I could catch it in time to record it. When I hear this I know she is happy. She is definitely a girl and in the mornings she lets me know that she is. She goes out the door crying about her cloths or hair more than not. Eating breakfast is hard for her in the mornings. She loves her friends and loves her teacher Mrs Marsh. Learning is a struggle for her at time but comes easy at other. I am excited for her to grow and develop this next year.
So a little update on Dan and I
Dan started a 2nd job this summer which has been a huge adjustment for our family. He is working at the boys home down the street from us. He works two nights a week from 2pm until 10pm. Right now his job is setting up the animal program at the home. He loves working with the boys and loves working with the animals. He is still doing construction full time at Sheperds. They will keep him busy until December or longer. I just keep telling them to put him on the pay roll. He is the Young Men's President which keeps him busy when work doesn't. He still finds time to play the guitar and help the kids practice although that has diminished drastically.
Then there is me. I am not going to lie I cried the first day of school. Dan came home early which was a shock and surprise. He was very patient with me crying and let me get it out. I just needed to have a little mourning session. I have had lots of time to ponder on life and ponder the things I need to be doing. I am still unsure of everything but I do know for sure that my first responsibility is to be a supportive wife. With Dan working two jobs I have had to pick of the pieces and fill in the gaps. Normally I would rebel against this but my heart knows that this is what Heavenly Father expects of me right now. Second is being a mother. The other day I was in conversation about all the fun things there are are for moms to do with there kids and how I wish pinterest would have been around when my kids were younger. Jake in his sensitive manner said, " mom you can still do those things we want to do them still." I have reflected on this the last few day and have decided that yes, eventhough my kids are older they still want and need their mom. I need to do fun things with them and create a warm environment for them. So those are my two goals for this school year. To support Dan and Be a good Mom!
